Meet the Young artist of the year
Meet Aarni Pieski, the Young Artist of the Year, for a conversation about his artistic practice and work. This is a great opportunity for audiences to get to know the person behind the artist and gain deeper insight into his creative vision and process.
Aarni Pieski is a Sámi playwright, dramaturg, screenwriter and curator, from Dálvadas, Ohcejohka, Sápmi and Helsinki, Finland. He works multidisciplinarily in the fields of performing arts, film, literature, and visual arts. His work is often text-based, exploring themes of desire, history, and otherworldliness from a queer and Indigenous perspective. He’s currently studying in the Theatre Academy of the University of Arts Helsinki.
During his time being the Young Artist of the Year, he will produce a demo performance with Vegard Bjørsmo and Klaudia Jokela for the 2026 festival and a performance with a working group to be presented in Riddu Sessions for the 2027 festival.
This talk is organized in collaboration with Stiftelsen Lásságámmi.
