Author talk with Aka Hansen
What do resistance, healing and hope sound like when they find their place in poetry? How can words open up space for both grief and strength – and become a way to find one’s voice in a world marked by colonial history and contemporary injustice?
Aka Hansen is a filmmaker, writer and activist from Kalaallit Nunaat. She works at the intersection of art, politics and identity, and is a clear voice in the Greenlandic decolonization movement. Through both film and literature, she insists on the right of Inuit to tell their own stories on their own terms.
Aka invites the audience into her world of words, images and resistance. With readings from Manifesti, her poetic and political debut book, and reflections on the role of art in healing processes, she creates a space where vulnerability and strength can coexist.
We explore what it means to find a home in one’s own voice, to use art as a tool to process colonial trauma – and to insist on hope in the face of oppression.
