Workshop: Niibeboagán/knife belt

Workshop

Most people have knives lying around at home, but not many people have a separate belt to hang the knife on! Niibeboagán (knife belt) has a long tradition of use in Sápmi and is particularly common for use on walks in forest and fields and in reindeer fences. Although niibeboagán is a faithful companion on hikes, there is nothing to stop you from dressing up with it at a festival. In this course you will learn to make your own niibeboagán.

This course requires no prior knowledge. It will be possible to buy material packages on the course.

The course runs over three days and the course is taught by duojár Ove Stødle.

Thursday 13 July at 11.00 – 16.00

Friday 14 July at 11.00 – 16.00

Saturday 15 July at 11.00 – 16.00

This course is organized in collaboration with the Center for Northern Peoples and the Duodjeinstituhtta.
