Lávvosáhka: Is Sámi religion a relic of the past?
There is a well-known expression that says that in order to oppress a people you must first destroy their spiritual values. Many now point to the fact that we must awaken our old Sámi belief in nature in order to protect nature. But is it right to take back something that has almost disappeared? And do we really know how our faith has traditionally been practiced? In this conversation Katri Somby, Fredrik Prost and Elin Kåven will examine the value of Sámi spirituality in today's Sápmi.
Language: Northern sámi
What is Lávvosáhka?
This year, Riddu Riđđu is launching a new concept, as a supplement to the seminar program: a conversation series called Lávvosáhka. These conversations will take place in the Bálddalávvus, and their purpose is to move away from Western models of discussion, and return to informal conversation.
