Northern people of the year
Literature

Tanya Tagaq is an award-winning vocalist from Iqaluktuutiaq/Cambridge Bay in Nunavut, Canada. She is especially known for her innovative use of katajjaq/throat singing in her music. In 2018, Tanya Tagaq released her first book Split Tooth. The author weaves fiction with traditional stories, reality and poetry with prose. The book tells the story of a young girl growing up in Nunavut in the 70s. Severity and humor are blended in this modern story with mythological elements. Tanya Tagaq´s own reading from the book is an experience out of the ordinary.

The literary program is presented in cooperation with Troms County Library.
