UIT seminar: “Wind power in Sámi areas” + The Árdna Award

Seminar

Árdna Award: The best master's thesis of the year with an Indigenous theme
(Duration ca.15 minutes)
UiT and the Center for Sámi Studies award prizes for this year's best master's thesis on Indigenous Peoples. The prize is awarded to the candidate who during the current academic year has written the best master's thesis with topics related to Indigenous Peoples and the situation of Indigenous Peoples. The price is NOK 10,000.

UIT seminar
This year's UiT seminar invites to a conversation and knowledge sharing about wind power. The so-called "green shift" is apparent in policies on energy. This continues to be met with great opposition. In areas with Sámi reindeer husbandry, wind power development has been referred to as green colonialism. What do we need to know? What do the reindeer owners say? What do the researchers say? What does the landscape say?

Moderator: Torjer Olsen
Panelists: TBA

The seminar takes place in Kultursálla and this year you must book a seat in advance. This can be done from Monday in the festival week. Everyone who has bought a ticket will receive information about this by e-mail.

NB! Please note that the award ceremony and the seminar have joint entries due to infection control. It will not be possible to enter the hall in the break between the two events.
