Siida: Bukta
Bernt Bjørn comes from the small village of Bukta in Omasvuotna, Northern Troms. Marita Isobel Solberg is from the other side of the fjord, from Olmmáivággi.
The story often told about the villages in Northern Troms is that of Norwegianization and depopulation. But SIIDA:BUKTA is not about what has been lost; it is a musical celebration of what is being carried onward. It’s about being at home in a landscape and a blended culture that gives strength to face the future.
SIIDA:BUKTA is a visual concert performance where the voices of Bernt Bjørn and Marita Isobel Solberg are accompanied by 84 bass speakers in a soundscape that blends techno, ambient, pop, and joik. The audience sits in a room covered in carded wool and is invited into a visual landscape that stretches, shifts, and transforms.
