This is a practical class, where the main focus is practicing different yoiks and exploring the yoik voice. As part of the class, you will be served campfire coffee and get to know some Sámi words and stories.
In this course, you’ll get to know what yoik is and learn different types of yoik, such as person, animal, and landscape yoiks. You may even be inspired to create your own yoik! All of this takes place together with others who are interested in yoik. No prior knowledge is required - the workshop is suitable for everyone.
The instructor: teacher and yoiker Berit Alette Mienna.
This is a two-day class, running Thursday July 9th and Friday July 10th, both days from 11AM to 3PM.
