Author talk with Jalvvi Niillas Holmberg

Jalvvi Niillas Holmberg is an author from Deatnu (Tana). He has written poetry collections, novels, essays, as well as film and theatre scripts. Through his literary works, he has received numerous awards at the international, national, and Sámi levels. Most recently, he was awarded the Sami Council’s Literary Prize in 2026 for his novel Goatnelle, which explores conflicts and tensions in contemporary Sámi life. Nature-based traditional knowledge, community, and anti-colonial themes are often central to his work.
