Sara Curruchich
We are incredibly happy to welcome Sara Curruchich to our main stage this summer!
Guatemalan Sara Curruchich is on her world wide “Indigenous Woman” tour, and luckily for us she stops by Olmmáivaggi. Curruchich is a Maya Kaqchikel singer, songwriter and activist, fighting for Indigenous and equal rights.
Curruchich’ musical universe is inspired by her culture and her roots. In her lyrics she mixes her mother tonge of Kaqchikel with Spanish. Her music combines folk and rock with Kaqchikel traditional sounds, creating wonderfully immersive experiences. Curruchich builds upon her own lived experience as well as her home community’s power of resistance, blending the deeply personal with lived communal experience, and tradition with contemporary reality. Her songs have become hymns of change.
We think she is a perfect fit for our main stage, and we can’t wait to dance to and be inspired by her music.
