We’re beyond excited to hear Greenlandic reggae when Sauwestari hits the stage this summer! 

Sauwestari is a groundbreaking reggae band from Kalaallitt Nunaat that has taken the music scene by storm with their debut album Sauwestari, released on May 26, 2023. The band was formed with a clear mission: to spread positive energy, love, respect, and environmental awareness through their music. They quickly became one of the most played acts in Greenland and have already received the prestigious KODA Award. 

The album was written and produced by Fabrizio Barzanti, and professionally mixed and mastered by acclaimed Danish producer Pharfar. With energetic drums by Jonas Nilsson, poetic vocals by Paaliit Mølgaard, and lyrics written by Minik Hansen and rapper Pilutaq Lundblad, their music blends traditional reggae with modern expressions. Guest contributions from Danish artists such as Pede B and Asger B add even more depth to their sound. 

The name Sauwestari carries a hidden meaning that points back to reggae’s origins in Jamaica, and the band aims to bring reggae into the everyday musical life of Kalaallitt Nunaat. With ten musicians on stage, they deliver high-energy live performances, and after a sold-out tour across Kalaallitt Nunaat, they are now ready to take the rest of the world by storm.
