Alash are from Tuva, a Russian republic between Sibiria and Mongolia. Tuva is particularily known to the outside world for their skilled overtone singers, a technique where one person sings two or more distinct pitches at the same time. Alash often combines western elements with the traditional and has won several awards for their music.
