OPEN CALL: Queer Indigenous artists
Riddu Riđđu invites queer Indigenous artists to apply to be part of the "Northern People of the Year" delegation.
For the last 24 years, the festival has chosen to put a focus on Indigenous groups in the northern areas through the vignette “Northern people of the year”. By inviting one Indigenous group each year, it has been possible to have a wider presentation through art and cultural expression.
For this year's festival, we want to put a twist on the project with honoring queer Indigenous as "Northern People of the Year". By "Queer Indigenous" we mean people with an Indigenous background who identify as LGBTQIA2S+. Through the project, we invite the delegation to come to our festival to participate in conversation, have courses and/or showcase their art through programming at our festival.
We are open to all forms of artistic and cultural expression. This can be music, dance, storytelling, crafts, etc.
Are you interested in contributing to the delegation?
Send us an email with:
- a brief description of your artistry or how you can contribute to the delegation (max. 1 A4 page)
- Photos, sketches or video, maximum 10 photos
- Applications are sent to [email protected] with Riddu NPOTY Open Call in the subject field
Application deadline: April 1st 2024
