Open call for Indigenous filmmakers

Riddu Riđđu invites Sámi filmmakers and Indigenous filmmakers to submit films to the festival's short film program.

Films in all genres can be submitted, but must not be longer than 30 minutes. Riddu Riđđu is after films where Indigenous People tell their own stories, and is interested in films with Indigenous People both in front of- and behind the camera. Preferably films in Indigenous languages. The film must be subtitled in English (films without subtitles can be submitted, but must be subtitled before screening at the festival). Riddu Riđđu pays screening fees for the films that are selected for the film programme.

The application should contain:
- A short text about the film and possibly about the people involved (max. 1/2 A4 page)
- Link and password to the film
- Send the application to [email protected] and write Urfilm Shorts in the subject field

The application deadline for the Open call is 3 April 2024

Festival director Sajje Solbakk is excited for the response:

- Never before has so much Indigenous film been produced as right now. That in itself is incredibly exciting! Indigenous films are shown at the biggest film festivals in the world and win the most prestigious awards. I know that in 2024 there will also be a lot of exciting things going on in the Indigenous film world and I hope as many of them as possible land in our inbox before the application deadline on 3 April.
