Exiting new addition to the Riddu Riđđu team
Riddu Riđđu, Europe’s largest festival for Indigenous culture, has hired Stian Pedersen (31) on a two-year contract as producer. Pedersen, who hails from Kåfjord, will have international cooperation as well as our children and youth programs as his chief responsibilities. Pedersen had his first day with the festival on April 15th.
Pedersen is a seasoned producer, and his previous employers include Márkomeannu Festival as well as a prior stint with Riddu Riđđu. He joins our team from a position of project manager for Hedline – Arctic Arts Management in Alta.
Good to be back
“It feels good to be back at Riddu Riđđu. Coming here feels like coming home. The festival is without a doubt the most important stage for Indigenous culture in Norway. Additionally, Riddu Riđđu is the biggest Sámi festival and an important arena for Sámi artists. It is super exciting to facilitate increased awareness for Sámi artists both home and abroad!”, according to Pedersen.
Many good candidates
“Over a number of years Riddu Riđđu has been positioning ourselves as important actor in bringing Sámi artists to a large audience. That we now are in a position where we can strengthen this work with an additional resource is thrilling!
We had many well-qualified applicants for the position, and we are happy that Riddu Riđđu is considered an attractive place to work. We were however never in doubt that Stian, with his large network and many years of relevant experience, has all the qualities we are looking for in a producer, and we are incredibly happy that he is now part of our team!”, says Festival Director Sajje Solbakk.
