Manne to Riddu Riđđu Festival 2023

Just hours ago, there was a crazy atmosphere on the main stage of Riddu Riđđu in Manndalen. Today, Europe's largest international Indigenous festival opens ticket sales for 2023, and at the same time announces the first big name on next year's poster. The first 100 tickets are sold at a discounted price.

Manne is the solo project of composer and producer Herman Rundberg from Kåfjord. Herman has for a number of years worked in various genres, bands and projects. Among other things, he has composed for the Norwegian Opera & Ballet and the Nobel Peace Prize, won the prestigious Amanda Prize for composing the soundtrack to "Kautokeino-oppgjøret", and toured the country with bands Violet Road and Alit Boazu.

Premiere of epic solo project
Now, he is releasing his own music for the first time in the project «Manne». The debut album will be released next year and the premiere will take place at the Riddu Riđđu festival 2023.

«Riddu Riđđu has been a central part of my upbringing and an important arena for me as a composer, musician and Sea Sámi. It feels enormous to have the premiere with Manne at the festival »

The Sea Sámi identity has always been a natural part of Herman's artistic work. In Manne he makes a deep dive into his own background where melodies inspired by traditional yoik and Sea Sámi hymns are combined with a modern musical landscape. Featuring on the album is the Arctic Philharmonic as well as various Sámi and northern Norwegian artists and musicians.

Next year's Riddu Riđđu festival takes place 12-16. July 2023 in Manndalen, Kåfjord municipality. The festival takes place mostly outdoors and has programs for the whole family that include a children's festival, youth camp, art exhibition, literature, performing arts, music, film program, seminars and courses. It is free to stay overnight at the festival's tent camp.
