Are you our Young artist of the year?

Riddu Riđđu Festivála aims to encourage artistic development amongst young Sámi artists and create a platform for them to reach national and international audience.

The acknowledgement/scholarship is awarded to Sámi youth between the ages of 18 and 25 who wish to focus on artistic development and pursue an artistic career. The applicant must emphasise Sámi anchoring in their artistic work.

As a recipient of the acknowledgement The young artist of the year will be:

  • Awarded scholarship of 25 000 NOK.
  • Included with their own program/event during Riddu Riđđu Festivála 2023.
  • Marketed as «Riddu Riđđu’s Young artist of the year» throughout the year.
  • Given the opportunity to attend/perform at festivals/events, nationally and internationally.
  • Able to participate in seminars hosted by, and recieve coaching from Talent Norge.
  • Given a one month artist recidency at Lásságámmi.
  • Get to create your own artistic project through Riddu Sessions, which will premiere at Riddu Riđđu 2024.

Application conditions:

  • The candidate must be between 18 - 25 years old.
  • The candidate must have affiliation to Sápmi (the Sámi areas in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia)
  • The acknowledgement requires a presentation of the artist’s work during Riddu Riđđu Festivála.
  • The candidate must include a plan for how the scholarship will be spent.
  • Within a year of receiving the scholarship the candidate must send a written report on the usage of the scholarship.
  • The application must contain a brief description of you and your artistic work (1-2 pages). Feel free to attach pictures, films, links or the like of your work.
