Violet Road is ready for this year's Riddu Riđđu

Norway´s probably most charming live band, Violet Road, is coming home to play Riddu Riđđu this summer. They have grown a reputation amongst many for being the absolute best live-band in the country, helped by radio hits like «Can You Hear the Morning Singing», «Face of the Moon» og «Good Girls». The debut album «Back to the Roadshow» was listed amongst Sony Music´s most sold albums of 2014. The band are met with sold out venues wherever they play, and have hours of radio time monthly.

Festival Director Karoline Trollvik says; «Violet Road is a live band that everyone should experience! I expect joyful sing-along when the band enters the Riddu stage this summer!

They guested the popular NRK talk-show “Lindmo” earlier this year, and talked about how the Riddu Riđđu festival has been the most important arena for them to gain a positive understanding of their Sami identity and belonging. They also talked about the assimilation policies by the Norwegian government, and how Riddu Riđđu to a shift in attitude and more understanding and acceptance for Sami people, and to bring back Sami pride.  

Violet Road are wonderful ambassadors for the Sami and for Kåfjord, our municipality. To show pride of where you come from, to wear the Gákti, and promote positivity towards Sámi culture is something that can encourage more people to feel positive about their Sámi identity” says festival director Karoline Trollvik.
